How Do I Learn?

In my most recent class, EDLD 5302, I spent the time learning about myself and how I learn. We studied and discussed growth mindset, how we learn, and learning communities.

To begin our class, we learned about Growth Mindset. We read Mindset: The New Psychology of Success (Dweck, 2006) and learned about growth mindset and fixed mindset. The stories throughout the book were interesting and helped the reader relate to what the author was writing about. I reflected upon my own mindset and create a Growth Mindset Plan that you can find here

Next, we took a look at our own learning. We evaluated why we do what we do and what brought us here. It was interesting to learn about the different backgrounds of my fellow classmates. I thoroughly enjoyed looking close at myself and why I am where I am in education and how I got here. You can read my Learning Manifesto here

My time in education has found me in many positions where I am the only one on my campus, or in my district, that does the job. It leads to sometimes not having anyone to bounce ideas off of and can lead to struggles in growing in the job. Learning networks have been invaluable to me as I have progressed through different positions in education. You can learn more about my current Learning Networks here
