Influencer Strategy

I have developed an influencer strategy plan to help with my implementation plan of fusing learning with technology. This influencer strategy will help guide how I will bring change in my organization to welcome the use of technology in a 1:1 classroom while keeping learning at the center. I utilized the information in Influencer: The new science of leading change (Patterson & Grenny, 2013) to develop this influencer strategy. 

Results I Want to Achieve

I would like 75% of the teachers that go through my Fusing Learning with Technology program to indicate that they were able to successfully find at least one technology resource to aid them in their selected instructional goal during the school year. The main goal is to keep instruction as the priority and technology as a supporting factor. 

How I Will Measure Results

  • Reflection forms filled out by teachers each month throughout the year. 

  • Lesson plans submitted to show the intended use of the technology with a reflection on if it was successful and/or what struggles they encountered

Vital Behaviors to Change

  • Some teachers looking at technology as just “one more thing” they have to do

  • Some teachers think that they couldn’t learn the new technology and it’s easier to stick with what they already know.

Organizational Influencers

I have created a Teacher Tech Team in my district. This group of teachers meet with me regularly and we discuss technology use in the classroom, how it’s going, what they are seeing, and what we need to improve upon. This is also my group of teachers that I start new initiatives with and then when their excitement grows they share with their peers and we are able to bring in more excitement.

Six Sources of Influence

To help teachers fuse learning with technology it will take not only the participation of the teachers, but of the entire district. Supports must be made for teachers that include time and money. This means that not only do the teachers need to be influenced to work on this implementation, but the district leadership needs to see the benefits and be willing to invest as well.
