Here it is, the last contribution to my learning post for the M.Ed. Applied Digital Learning course at Lamar University. What started for me over 2 years ago has now come to an end and I have learned much more than I ever thought possible. I'm going to start by being completely honest with myself and all that are reading this. While I would go back and do this program all over again, I struggled to give this last course the attention, focus, and work that it deserved. I'm just SO done with being a student at the moment! That is not necessarily a good excuse, but it is the truth, and one of the things I've learned in this program is to be honest with yourself and where you need to improve. I needed to do better in this course, but went into it with the mindset of just getting done!
I did not complete all of the discussion posts for the first time in this entire program. While discussion posts were never my favorite thing, I always made sure I posted and at least replied to one person each time. This time, I didn't even post all of them. Did I mention that I'm just DONE? However, with the exception of not doing the discussion posts, I did put time and effort into all of my other assignments.
My first assignment came back with a low grade but a chance to make corrections. I appreciated having the option to make those corrections and went in, took the time, and fixed what was wrong. That grade was then bumped up to an A, which is where most of my grades generally fall (with the exception of a B here and there). I used that feedback to do better on my second and third assignments, hoping for higher grades to begin with this time.
Another thing that I did not do well in this course, and honestly the previous few courses, was having a collaboration group within the program. While I was able to do this easily for the first few classes, after that my group moved on from me because they were taking 2 courses at a time while I was still taking one. I stayed in touch with them all and even as they graduated they were there for me to bounce ideas off of and talk to. While I didn't build another collaboration group with my Lamar peers after that, I did have a strong collaboration group outside of Lamar. In addition to having teachers and administrators that I regularly collaborate with regarding my assignments, I have educator friends around the country that I would collaborate with when I needed some direction and collaboration. I struggled some with not building another Lamar collaboration group, but I found that the group would be there for a course or two and move on like my first one so I found it more beneficial to build a collaboration group outside of Lamar so that it could work easier in my circumstance.
This entire program has left me with resources, knowledge, and creations that will benefit me going forward and I will recommend it to anyone that is interested in it. While I completed my assignments, made corrections, and collaborated with a group outside of Lamar, I know that I did not complete my discussion posts as I should and I did not collaborate with my Lamar peers. For these reasons, I am giving myself the lowest grade I've ever given myself on one of this contribution assignments and that is a 75/100.
